Faces&PlacesMarch 1998President Jack Tenney announced that J. Patrick Webb was hired as an advertising representative at Mill Publishing Inc. in South Burlington. Webb founded and published Vermont Outlook on Business and Development, and sold advertising for The Real Estate Guide and The Burlington Free Press. He handles client accounts for Business Digest magazine, as well as the company's electronic publications at its VermontGuides Web site (www.vermontguides.com). Mary D. Lintermann, P.E., has joined Barr & Barr Inc., a construction management company in Shelburne and Middlebury, as director of business development. Lintermann was a partner at Alpine Design & Engineering. Barr & Barr also has offices in Boston, Connecticut and New York. Replay Sports has moved from 1968 Shelburne Road, Shelburne, to Mall 189 at 516 Shelburne Road, Burlington. Steve Donahue of Redstone Commercial Group in Burlington represented the owners of Mall 189 in leasing 4,000 square feet of retail space to the company. Replay Sports's new phone number is (802) 658-7622. Wendy Blakeman has been hired by Freeman French Freeman Inc., a Burlington architecture firm. Blakeman, a designer with 10 years' experience, is working on the Burlington International Airport and Middlebury College external affairs projects. Rebecca Strader has joined the firm. Strader is an intern architect from Yale University, working on the Johnson State College dormitory renovations. Jesse Black was named president. David Ashley has become senior vice president, and Steve Mosman was named vice president of the firm. Saint Michael's College in Colchester has appointed Barbara Wessel vice president for institutional advancement. Wessel was senior director for college-based development at Syracuse University. She will expand all aspects of the college's alumni relations, fund raising and public relations. Nancy Deyette has been named executive assistant to the vice president for business and administration. Deyette was in the human resources office at the college for six years. Brian MacDonald has become the college's Web site developer. MacDonald was an information and education specialist for the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation. Chad Ross and Doug Stewart have joined the management team of the Windjammer Restaurant in South Burlington. Greg Robitaille has become assistant manager of Cafe Espresso. Darren Zenno has become executive chef at the cafe. Both restaurants are part of Tygate Companies, which also includes the EconoLodge. Laura Levering O'Connell has been promoted to vice president of operations at Tygate Companies. O'Connell has been a manager with Tygate since 1992. Becky Dion has been promoted to administrative assistant. Dion, who has been with the company since 1993, was front desk customer service representative. Jeannette Karns has been appointed personnel manager. Karns was with Pez Candy Co. in Orange, Conn. Jim Gratton has joined John McGinnis Real Estate Services Inc. of Burlington as a sales associate. Gratton has more than 10 years of real estate experience in Chittenden and Franklin counties, specializing in residential sales and buyer brokering. Gov. Howard Dean announced the appointment of Robert D. Miller as commissioner of economic development. Miller was deputy commissioner of economic development since January 1997, and served as director of financial services development for the department for three years. Mary Ellen Simmons was named registered representative at the Montpelier branch of Howard Bank for insurance and investment products offered through Northgroup Investment and Insurance Services Inc. and MDS Securities Inc. Simmons was a functional manager with The Prudential. Y.C. John Peng has joined Suss Advanced Lithography Inc. in Waterbury Center as vice president of sales. Peng is based in the company's California sales office. He was general manager for Far East business at Rofin-Sinar Laser Group. Ruth Josinsky has joined the Essex office of Lang Associates. Josinsky has worked in real estate since 1980, and spent eight years at Evans Realty in Stowe. JoAnn Stak has become marketing specialist with the Burlington Electric Department. Stak has 10 years' experience in communications, and was communications and course materials coordinator for Vermont Technical College at IBM. Bryan Randall and Kurt Preiss were hired as senior development engineers at Microprocessor Designs Inc. of Shelburne. Randall's responsibilities include hardware design, PCB layout and manufacturing engineering. Preiss designs hardware and firmware. Robert Driver has returned to Total Image Salon in Burlington after a brief move out of state. Driver has 10 years' experience in the styling field. Stephen P. Burr, a registered patent attorney, has joined the law firm Merritt & Merritt in Burlington, as Of Counsel. Burr was a partner in an Alexandria, Va.. intellectual property law firm. Lisa E. Contois has become a legal secretary/receptionist at the firm. Contois was a public safety dispatcher for the city of Burlington. International Foods Inc. relocated its warehouse and distribution operation from Commerce Street in Williston to the Colchester One property at Acorn Lane, Colchester. Tony Blake of V/T Commercial assisted the tenant and landlord in negotiating the deal. Nybor Corp., an Internet/intranet business solution provider with headquarters in Williston, has expanded its Norwood, Mass., office. Hank Birkdale, vice president of advanced technology, is in charge of the Norwood facility. The Knox Group has moved from Waterbury to 85 Westview Drive in Shelburne, and changed its name to Toby Knox & Associates.
