Julie Lamothe has joined the Commonwealth United Mortgage Co. in South Burlington, a subsidiary of National CityBank. Lamothe covers Chittenden, Addison, Franklin and Washington counties.

Mathias Dubilier was appointed cheese and catalog manager at Shelburne Farms. Dubilier and his wife Alison own the Country Courier newspaper in Enosburg Falls, where he was publisher and editor.

Ground Water of Vermont has announced it is adopting the name of its parent company, Marin Environmental Inc. Since 1993 Ground Water of Vermont has specialized in contaminant investigation and remediation, water supply and wastewater disposal investigation, and environmental site assessments. As Marin Environmental, the firm's services have expanded to include air quality, soil and water remediation, regulatory compliance and permitting, underground storage tank assessments, and Phase I, Phase II and Phase III environmental site assessments. Marin Environmental has moved to 1700 Hegeman Ave. at Fort Ethan Allen in Colchester. Marin Environmental has offices in Haddam, Conn., Sturbridge, Mass., and Hampstead, N.H.

Maureen O'Laughlin, R.N., BSN, was appointed director of nursing services at Burlington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Cynthia Schneider was named director of recreational therapy. Schneider was a professor at Lyndon State College.

Suzanne Chambers has joined SymQuest Group Inc. as a Riso product specialist, covering Chittenden, Addison, Washington, Franklin, Lamoille and Grand Isle counties. SymQuest has five location in Vermont and New Hampshire.

Jeffrey D. Stone was named senior vice president and district team leader for retail banking in KeyBank's new Vermont/Champlain Valley district, a new expansion of the Vermont district that includes Plattsburgh, N.Y., and the greater Champlain Valley. Stone has been with KeyBank for nearly 20 years, most recently as retail banking area manager for the north country market area, centered in Watertown, N.Y.

Kolok Development Group Inc., a local real estate development company active in New England, New York and Central Europe, has announced the addition of Douglas A. Ellwood to the firm as project manager. Ellwood is responsible for property management for Marble Island Community & Resort in Colchester. Amy E. Larivee has been hired as administrative assistant for the company. Linda Letourneau, a project assistant with Kolok, will take on the additional responsibility of marketing for two retirement housing projects the company has planned in Chittenden County.

ATC Associates Inc. has announced the addition of David E. Adams, P.E., to the firm's Richmond office as project engineer. Adams has experience in stack, ambient and indoor air quality testing and permitting, EPA/OSGA compliance, ventilation system design, and environmental engineering. ATC has 60 offices around the country and specializes in environmental, geotechnical and materials sciences.

Scott Carter has joined Barr & Barr Inc. in Middlebury as an estimator. Carter was with Bread Loaf Construction and has 12 years of experience in estimating institutional, commercial, industrial and multi-residential facilities. His expertise includes construction management, negotiated contracts, lump sum bids, cost plus, fast track and design build. Barr & Barr Inc., with offices in Middlebury, New York City, Boston, New Haven and Livingston, N.J., has provided construction management to private sector institutions since 1927.

Carla Mortensen has been appointed executive director of the career services office at Middlebury College. Mortensen was assistant director of career services at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Prior to that, she was a foreign services officer in Copenhagen.

Mark Lorenzini has been named a partner in the SymQuest Group of Burlington. Lorenzini has also been promoted to director of computer services, responsible for the computer systems integration group and the computer education and training group. SymQuest has five locations in Vermont and New Hampshire, and specializes in copiers, printers, computer networking and computer education.

Peter Drake has been promoted to senior manager of marketing for Cellular One's cellular and long-distance operations in Northern New England and New York. Drake was marketing director and general manager of retail operations for McAuliffe Inc. Tag Carpenter has joined the marketing department at Cellular One as the manager of customer satisfaction. Carpenter has been with Cellular One for six years and has held the positions of commercial account manager, sales and agent manager, and western regional sales manager.

Ron Peterson has been appointed manager, quality assurance/project scientist at Stone Environmental Inc. in Montpelier. Peterson will head the firm's quality assurance services, which have been expanded to include a direct quality assurance unit responsible for monitoring agrochemical studies for compliance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's standards.

Tim Cole has joined S.D. Ireland Brothers Corp. as vice president of operations. Cole was a division manager with Gosselin's Excavating. Randy Laframboise has joined the company as vice president of project management. Laframboise was with R.J. Colton Co. Clovis Arel, Loni Morse, John Park and Steve Willsey have joined the firm as project superintendents. Arel and Morse were with Gosselin's Excavating; Park and Willsey were with R.J. Colton. The company has also hired an experienced team of heavy equipment operators and pipe foremen, as well as adding new earth-moving equipment. S.D. Ireland Brothers Corp. is a site work and excavation company that was started in 1994 by Scott and Stephen Ireland to complement S.D. Ireland Concrete Construction Co.

Anita Aikey and Mark Enos, owners of A? Stoneworks Inc., have announced the relocation of their business to 14 Creek Farm Plaza, Colchester. A? Stoneworks provides wholesale, retail and custom fabrication and installation of granite/marble/soapstone counter tops, bathroom vanities, fire surrounds, etc.

Lisa Audette has joined New England Investigative Services PC of Rutland as the investigative services manager. Audette was a federal police officer. She will be responsible for supervising the firm's investigators throughout Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. William P. Wiles has joined the firm as the information services manager. Wiles is a former educator. NEIS is a full-service private investigative, information and security services firm.

Colleen McLaughlin has joined the printing department at Saint Michael's College as a graphic designer. McLaughlin helps campus clients with projects such as posters, brochures and marketing materials. She was with Eating Well magazine.

Christina Sturges has joined the Visiting Nurse Association as executive assistant to Patrick L. Thomas, the president/CEO. Sturges was practice manager for organizational effectiveness and strategic planning for a Boston-based international management firm.

Art Edelstein, a free-lance journalist/photographer, has joined New England Marketeer of Barre. Edelstein will write copy for press releases, brochures, scripts and newsletters, help develop web sites and do editorial photography. He has been a frequent contributor to the Times Argus and regional and national magazines, and an internet columnist for the Caledonian Record in St. Johnsbury. New England Marketeer is a full-service advertising and marketing company.

John M. Keel has been appointed executive vice president and chief information officer at Banknorth Group Inc. Keel will be responsible for leading the company's information and technology development and operations. He was with Key Services Corp., a division of KeyCorp, most recently as senior vice president in the technology services group.

John Higgins has accepted the position of project engineer with Engineering Ventures Inc. Higgins has four years of experience in the Burlington area in the engineering design of commercial and industrial buildings. He will specialize in structural engineering for rehabilitation of existing buildings and for new construction.

Daniel P. Werme has been appointed branch president of the Bristol office of the Merchants Bank. Werme joined the bank in 1995 as a customer service representative and in 1996 was promoted to the position of corporate banking administrator.

Richard A. Caira, Albert (Mike) Willis and Marcel Desjariais have been promoted to outside sales representative by Reynolds & Sons Inc. Caira, who will cover central Vermont from the Barre location, joined the firm as an inside sales representative for safety products. He is a technical expert in Schrader Fluid power and MSA safety products as well as 3M abrasives. Willis joined Reynolds in 1982 and has been branch manager of Rutland operations since 1984. Willis' new territory includes southwest Vermont and eastern New York. Desjariais, who works out of the South Barre office, will cover northern Vermont. He has extensive field experience in machining, diamonds, and heavy contractor equipment.

Robert K. Zeman, M.D., has been named radiology health care service leader at Fletcher Allen Health Care, and chair of the department of radiology at the UVM College of Medicine. Zeman was professor and clinical director of diagnostic radiology at Georgetown University Medical Center in washington, D.C., for 11 years.

RuthAnn Clark, Amanda Towle and David Dolan have joined the team of stylists at Total Image Salon at 515 Shelburne Road, Burlington. Clark was owner and manager of Hairs' RuthAnn in South Hero. Prior to that, she worked at O'Brien's in Burlington. Towle provides perms, color application, manaicures, tanning and waxing services. She specializes in children's cuts. Dolan, a Jericho resident, has been in the cosmetology industry for several years.

Patrick J. Calecas of Enosburg Falls has been promoted to vice president at Franklin Lamoille Bank. Calecas, a commercial loan officer, is responsible for the bank's existing commercial customers as well as developing new banking relationships. He joined the bank as a senior credit analyst and credit analysis officer. Linda M. Watson of Bakersfield has been promoted to assistant treasurer at the bank. Watson is a retail banker responsible for consumer lending and developing new business. She joined the bank in 1980 as a teller at the Morrisville office. She has served in several capacities, including head teller, loan operations manager and consumer lender.

Annie Clark has joined the graphic design studio of Sally Stetson Design in Stowe as Mac production artist and designer. Clark has 12 years' experience in design and pre-press, most recently at Kobel International.

Kathleen Fredricks has joined Marin Environmental as office administrative manager. Fredricks has more than three years' administrative and management experience. Marin Environmental (formerly Ground Water of Vermont) recently moved to 1700 Hegeman Ave., Colchester.

Peter Collotta has joined Barr & Barr Inc. in Middlebury as a mechanical supervisor. Collotta was with Harder Mechanical and has 16 years' experience in mechanical estimating and project managment. His expertise includes commercial/industrial projects for hospitals, research facilities, universities, manufacturing facilities and office building construction and tenant fit-out.

Wendy Cholewa has joined Child Travel Services of Colchester as a group travel counselor for the group department. Cholewa has seven years of travel industry experience primarily working for Club Med in a variety of positions, including accounting, reservations and groups. She was a tour guide at Club Med's Paradise Island resort in the Bahamas. Sue LaClair has joined the firm as account executive for the corporate department. LaClair is returning to the travel industry after a nine-year absence.

Hackett, Valine & MacDonald Inc., a South Burlington insurance agency, has announced that Gwen E. Weinstock has been promoted to commercial account representative in the package department.

Otter Creek Industries Inc. has announced the appointment of Todd R. Warren as vice president of sales. Warren was director of sales and marketing for the Hampton Inn and Conference Center. He will coordinate OtterCreek's regional sales of commercial and residential awnings and Betterliving Patio Rooms. Warren's office is at Otter Creek's new facility on South Brownell Road in Williston. Cindy Delaney has joined the firm as a sales and design specialist for the Betterliving Patio Rooms division. Delaney was with Conference Hotels of Vermont and Smuggler's Notch Resort. Gary Pinckney has joined the awning sales and design team at the Williston showroom. He is responsible for the design and sales of residential awning products. Pinckney spent 16 years in the vacation ownership and real estate industry. George Erwin has been promoted to senior sales and design specialist at the Williston facility. He isresponsible for sales and design of commercial awning products. Erwin has been with Otter Creek for four years.

The Vermont Ski Areas Association, a trade association representing 14 mountain resorts, has named Molly Mahar Kerr director of marketing. Mahar Kerr served as acting director of marketing for the association since August. Prior to that, she was group sales manager at Sugarbush Resort.

Susan M. DeMatteis has been appointed mortgage originator for Chittenden Bank in Lamoille and Orleans counties. DeMatteis joined the bank in 1977 and has worked in several areas, including lead teller, mortgage underwriter and mortgage closing coordinator.
