Daniel Clark, owner of Employer Resources, was appointed branch manager of Labor Ready Inc. in Burlington, the Tacoma, Wash., company's first Vermont branch office. The firm provides emergency and temporary staffing for business and industry.

Former secretary of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources John B. Kassel became counsel to the Burlington law firm O'Neill Crawford & Green. Before working for the state, Kassel was in private practice at Miller, Eggleston & Rosenberg in Burlington from 1987 to 1992.

Betty Sue Thorpe was promoted from receptionist to administrative assistant for president Robert Hudson, CFP, EA, at Alpha Omega Financial Services Inc. in Essex Junction.

Mary Jane Russell was promoted from director of financial planning and budget management to director of finance at Saint Michael's College in Colchester.

Leslie Schwartz was promoted from administrative assistant/receptionist to payroll administrator and human resources assistant at Encompass Mechanical Services in Williston. Ryno Paquette joined as a project engineer. He has more than eight years of plumbing, heating and water treatment experience.

Martha Keenan joined Redstone Commercial Management, an affiliate of Redstone Commercial Group, as real estate manager. Keenan has more than 15 years' experience of owning a business and five years of real estate experience in property management, development and construction.

Marni Witten Rieger was named assistant property manager of the Quail Hollow Senior Living Community in West Lebanon, N.H., by Coburn & Feeley Property Management Inc. in Burlington.

Director of professional education Cynthia Belliveau was appointed interim associate dean of the professional unit at the University of Vermont Division of Continuing Education. Others who joined the unit: Anne O'Brien, former executive director of the Vermont Council for Quality, hired as senior program developer/ extension assistant professor of the healthcare administration team; Roger Kilbourn, senior program developer/ extension assistant professor for the public administration team; Janet Nunziata, marketing specialist, higher education team; and Renee Piernot and Vera LaPorte, program assistants, higher education and public administration teams. Jennifer Gagnon was hired as financial specialist in the distance learning network unit. O'Brien was appointed to the board of examiners for the National Baldrige Quality Award.

Hair Unlimited by Maurice moved from 1 Blair Park, Williston, to 3,000 square feet of space at 300 Cornerstone Drive, Williston, and changed its name to Oasis Day Spa. Massage therapist Marcel Tougas joined as business partner.

President/ CEO Joseph M. Finnigan announced Lisa M. Daggett became controller at Vermont Federal Credit Union in Burlington. Daggett was controller at Champlain Management Services in Burlington

Tracy L. Jones, formerly of Acadia Insurance, joined Hickok & Boardman of Stowe Inc., a division of Hickok & Boardman Financial Network.

Ruth Wallman was appointed executive director of First Night Burlington. Wallman was director of government relations at the University of Vermont. Jimmy Swift was promoted from First Night artistic director and director of the Discover Jazz Festival to First Night associate director.

Jill Hoppenjans became program coordinator for the United Way of Chittenden County volunteer center and retired and senior volunteer program. Hoppenjans worked for the University of Vermont.

Jamie Balliett joined the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce in Burlington as government relations specialist. Balliett wrote for The Burlington Free Press and Vermont Times.

Kimberly Stoerker returned to Jager Di Paola Kemp Design in Burlington as creative services assistant. Stoerker had been an intern at the company. Ryan Widrig, former art director at Kelliher Samets Volk in Burlington, became a senior designer. Tait Hawes and Nathan Nedorostek joined as designers. Hawes was a designer at DownLoadMagazine.com; Nedorostek was an intern at the company before working as a free-lance designer for two years.

Resolution Inc. in South Burlington has changed it name to ResoDirect. The new name reflects an increasing focus on direct-to-consumer e-commerce fulfillment and direct-to-business distribution. Bill Schubart is chairman/ CEO; Karen Makowski is president.

Pamela Dundon and Christine Mara became financial consultants at the investment firm Salomon Smith Barney in Burlington. Dundon was a mortgage originator at Chittenden Bank for 15 years.

Robert Calabrese joined InterVision Ltd. in Burlington as chief operating officer and sales director. Calabrese has experience in software development, sales, service and support. Shane DeRidder became senior network administrator. DeRidder was a senior systems administrator at CK Interactive and Together Networks. Kevin Lewis joined the company on a consulting basis. Lewis has 25 years of design and marketing experience. Jacob Kane was hired as a programmer. Kane graduated from Champlain College in Burlington.

Ru Russell and Teki Cass joined Truex Cullins & Partners Architects in Burlington. Russell became part of the architectural design team. He worked for Black River Design, Architects in Montpelier and architect Roland Batten. Cass was hired as purchasing manager for the interiors division. She owned a business for five years and, most recently, was employed by Polhemus Inc. in Colchester as an independent contractor.

Tom Fitzpatrick was appointed director of the new international business degree program at Champlain College in Burlington. He is responsible for academic program development and the offering of courses in international business at Champlain and its campuses in Israel, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates. Fitzpatrick taught for the past four years in the MBA program at Southern New Hampshire University. Don Haggerty, formerly director of new product and business development at GreenMountain.com, joined as director of the new e-business and commerce degree program.

Charles Cherhoniak was promoted from senior credit officer to executive vice president and senior loan officer at Howard Bank in Burlington. Howard Bank is a member company of Banknorth Group Inc. of Portland, Maine.

John O. Hudson became assistant director for special gifts in the office of institutional advancement at Saint Michael's College in Colchester. Hudson has 10 years of experience in marketing and business development through fund-raising campaigns with Action for Blind People, the Royal National Institute for the Blind and Imperial Cancer Research Fund -- all in England.

Edward Rooney joined InnoSoft Inc. in Essex Junction as a software engineer. Rooney has more than five years' experience developing and implementing computer applications and systems.

Green Mountain Systems & Service Inc. in Essex Junction promoted Grant Bailey to vice president in charge of engineering and field support. Bailey has been with the company five years. Chris Companion became service and installation manager. Companion was owner and operations manager of a Florida alarm company.

Kristina Ellsworth was promoted to closing coordinator at Hickok & Boardman Realty in Burlington. Ellsworth joined the business in 1998 as office coordinator.

Jonathan Milne joined investment firm Salomon Smith Barney in Burlington as a financial consultant and certified financial planner. Milne has more than six years' experience in the financial services industry. Suzanne Shepard was promoted to financial consultant. She's worked in the industry five years.

Philip Bender joined Efficiency Vermont as director of marketing and business development. He has worked as a marketing, business development and public relations consultant. Robert Morey, formerly of Green Mountain Power Corp., became business development specialist. Leslie Perry, a University of Oregon graduate, was hired as an administrative assistant. Efficiency Vermont is a statewide energy efficiency utility of Vermont Energy Investment Corp. in Burlington.

The Vermont Development Credit Union in Burlington named Donald K. Manders marketing coordinator for the adaptive equipment revolving loan fund. Manders was a public relations officer at the University of Ottawa, Ontario, for 23 years, and worked for Vermont Associates in Training and Development and Country Home Products in Vergennes.

Cathleen M. Persons joined Bread Loaf Corp. in Middlebury as receptionist. Persons was with Carris Reels in Rutland. Daniel R. Sonneborn, formerly of Legacy Partners in Irvine, Calif., became manager of technical infrastructure. Deborah M. Baslow joined as architectural department coordinator. Baslow was with Pioneer Environmental Associates. Jonathan M. Dennis, previously with Riccardi Construction in New York, became an architectural designer. Stephen B. Harris was promoted to senior vice president of business development. He's been with the company since 1983.

Paul Moreno joined Country Walkers in Waterbury as controller. Moreno worked for a pharmaceutical manufacturer and distributor in Arizona for 12 years. Karen Cleary joined as an assistant regional manager. Cleary was a legal assistant at Barr & Associates in Stowe.

April Sue McKenzie was promoted from laundry supervisor to director of housekeeping at Sheraton Burlington Hotel and Conference Center in South Burlington. Jeffery Boyce was promoted from front office manager to executive meetings manager. Mark E. Huff was appointed executive meetings manager. Huff was front office manager for Best Western Windjammer Inn and Conference Center. Heather Ragsdale was named assistant banquet manager. Ragsdale was a banquet captain at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Seattle, Wash., and at Bell Harbor, Pier 66.

William M. MacKinnon was promoted to senior vice president and regional manager of commercial banking at Howard Bank in Burlington. MacKinnon joined the bank in 1995 as vice president of corporate lending; he has worked in commercial lending in Chittenden County 20 years.

Stephen Renaud was promoted from lead reservationist to front office manager at the Sheraton Burlington Hotel and Conference Center in South Burlington. Prior to joining the Sheraton, Renaud was with the Holiday Inn in Emmeryville, Calif. Erin M. Kennedy, former sales and marketing specialist at Bombardier Capital, became sales manager. Gary Ross was named director of sales and marketing. Ross was director of sales at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Rochester, N.Y.

Chris Appel was promoted to senior vice president manufacturing and distribution for the Bruegger's Bagel Bakery System at Bruegger's Corp. in Burlington. Appel joined the company five years ago. He is responsible for facilities throughout the Northeast.

Jonathan Parks joined the client services group of Jager Di Paola Kemp Design in Burlington. Parks was managing partner of Gauge Jean & Clothing Co. in Manchester. Ren Chase and Shawn Herrity joined as digital production specialists. Chase was a production assistant at The Garlic Press in Williston; Herrity has more than seven years of experience including time at Reprographics of New England, The Lane Press in South Burlington and The Offset House in Essex Center. Will Atkin returned as a broadcast specialist/ animator. Atkin was a systems support specialist at the firm before completing a master's course in digital entertainment systems at the National Center of Computer Animation in Bournemouth, England.

Walter Gulfield was promoted to assistant operations manager at Chittenden County Transportation Authority in Burlington. Gulfield joined the company in December 1999 as a bus driver.

Tara Sullivan joined the Burlington office of the Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired as development coordinator. Sullivan worked as a development assistant for an organization in Montana.

Scott D. Berkman was promoted to vice president, purchasing and materials management, for Bruegger's Bagel Bakery System of Bruegger's Corp. in Burlington.

Don Miller and Ellsworth Hults announced Vermont Systems Support Group changed its name to Infinite Technologies of Vermont and moved from Jericho to the Goodwin Building at 71 Millett St., Richmond. (802) 434-5393. (11/00)
