Faces&PlacesJanuary 2003ABC22 News in Burlington announced that Barrie Dunsmore, an ABC News correspondent for 30 years, will be a weekly commentator. "Barrie Dunsmore's Views From Vermont" airs Tuesdays at 6 and 11 p.m. Dunsmore has lived in Vermont for several years. Jane Beck, executive director of the Vermont Folklife Center in Middlebury, announced the appointment of Claudia Woods to the newly created position of director of development and communications. Lang Associates announced three additions to its sales team. James F. Devlin, a retired New York City Transit Police officer, is the former owner of the 717 Corner Store in New Haven Junction. Geri M. Barrows brings 13 years of legal and real estate experience to the firm. She was with Kolok Development at Marble Island. Christian S. Manley is a South Burlington resident who enjoys traveling, cross-country skiing, writing and music. Pam Carroll-Krebser, LUTCF, CPIW was named retirement plan consultant in the sales department of National Pension Service, a Burlington consulting and administration firm. She was handling plan administration on defined contribution plans for the firm. V/T Commercial Real Estate announced that Jed Dousevicz has joined the firm as a commercial sales associate. He owned and operated a commercial insurance agency in Burlington. Lang Associates announced the addition of Dana V. Valentine to its sales team. She managed a technology program for Vermont nonprofit organizations and was with Gap Inc. in California. Lori Ann Ash was named office manager in the real estate firm's Middlebury office. She was a bookkeeper with a Middlebury accounting firm. Sarah Carpenter, Vermont Housing Finance Agency's executive director, announced the hiring of Maura Collins as research analyst. Collins was with the Technical Assistance Collaborative in Boston. Country Walkers, an adventure travel company in Waterbury, hired Richard Russo as assistant regional manager. He facilitates trip development and oversees hotel and meal arrangements. Mandy Wisell was named marketing assistant and assistant regional manager. She returns to Country Walkers after two years at Nextec Applications Inc. in Vista, Calif. Karen Cleary was promoted to regional manager. She was assistant regional manager. Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission moved its offices from 66 Pearl St., Essex Junction, to 30 Kimball Ave., Suite 206, South Burlington. The phone number is now 846-4490. Edwin I. Colodny, interim chief executive officer of Fletcher Allen Health Care, announced that Spencer R. Knapp, president and managing partner in the Burlington law firm Dinse, Knapp & McAndrew, will be Fletcher Allen's acting general counsel. He continues to be a principal at his law firm and has stepped down from the Fletcher Allen board of trustees. Colodny has named Theresa Alberghini DiPalma as his special adviser. Alberghini DiPalma, assistant dean for government and external relations at the UVM College of Medicine, divides her time between the positions. Ascension Technology Corp. of Milton named Ryan S. Raz of Windsor, Ontario, director of technology. He has more than 25 years' experience in scientific and medical hardware and software instrumentation. He was vice president of research and development at Geotech Ltd. Dr. Mary E. Doyle of Richmond joined the St. Michael's College faculty as associate professor of education. She was coordinator of the statewide initiative to increase licensed special educators in Vermont and taught graduate courses in special education at the college as an adjunct professor last year. The National Life Group announced the appointment of Jane Bowman as vice president, human resources. She held the same position at BF Goodrich Aerospace in Vergennes and was a human resource partner at IBM in Essex Junction. G.W. Savage Corp. has moved to new headquarters, an 8,000-square-foot industrial building in Production Park in Williston, purchased from Richard Leff. The building is the company's headquarters. Eric Farrell of Redstone was the listing broker representing the seller. Elizabeth Dilley of Redstone assisted in the transaction. Jeff Nick of J.L. Davis represented the buyer. Ground Round in South Burlington has undergone a major renovation, featuring a new lounge, dining room, exterior and logo. The restaurant employs 70 full- and part-time staff. QuarryWorks at the Adamant Music School appointed Thomas Stevens production coordinator for the 6-year-old theater company. He has appeared in productions at the Philips Experimental Theater and was selected to read as part of Adamant's Beth Kuhn was named director of the Champlain Initiative, a United Way program in its fifth year of service. She owned Stonegate Strategies, a marketing consulting business. The Vermont Water Resources Board has a new executive officer, Jon M. Groveman of Marshfield. An attorney, Groveman was with the Vermont League of Cities and Towns. CollegeXTRA has hired Andy Vota as director of product development. He was a free-lance provider of Web site design, development and consulting services. Tina Wallis has joined Northeast Benefits Management as benefits administrator. She was a benefits administrator at Gallagher, Flynn & Co. St. Michael's College announced several faculty changes and additions. Dr. Nathaniel G. Lew is assistant professor of fine arts/music. Dr. William Karstens, assistant professor of physics, was named to a tenure-track faculty position. He has been with the college since 1993. Dr. Bret R. Findley, visiting professor of chemistry last year, was named assistant professor of chemistry on a tenure track. Traci Griffith, a visiting assistant professor of journalism last year, was named assistant professor of journalism on a tenure track. She was correspondent for the Associated Press in Chicago. Dr. Joanna Ellis-Monaghan was named assistant professor of mathematics on a tenure track. She has collaborated with industry partners for research projects. Hackett Valine & MacDonald Inc. announced the following staff additions. Faith A. Hites is client account representative in the group/life department She was employed at Penn Mutual Life in Pittsburgh, Pa. Lauren J. Shangraw, customer service representative in the personal lines department, comes with 12 years' experience in the insurance industry. Christina M. Cross is assistant customer service representative. She was with Allstate Insurance Co. Anthony Chown and Heather Voisin have joined the engineering firm of Provan & Lorber Inc. in Montpelier. Chown is project engineer/manager; Voisin is a design engineer. Ted Shambo has joined the Addison County Chamber of Commerce as membership director. He was office manager at Casella Waste Management in Middlebury. Eric D. Jones has joined Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC as an associate practicing in the general area of employment law. He was a managing partner in the Norwich law firm of Vitt & Jones, PLC. Green Mountain Nursing Home in Colchester hired Kathy Libby and Linda Seaver to the resident and family services position, which they will share. They bring more than 50 years' experience. Trane, a manufacturer and supplier of commercial and industrial central air conditioning systems, equipment, controls, service and parts, has moved its Vermont office from Colchester to 175 Leroy Road, Williston. Jager DiPaola Kemp Design announced staff additions. Peter Sunna and Tyler Stout were hired as designers; Ron Wagner is senior production manager; Vanessa Howard is junior production manager; Janna Palliser is proofreader/copy editor; and Jay Curley is human resources/office coordinator. William W. Pendlebury, M.D., a neurologist and neuropathologist at Fletcher Allen Health Care and the UVM College of Medicine and director of the Memory Center, was appointed to medical director of elder care services. Mary Botter, Ph.D., R.N., was appointed chief nursing officer. She was administrative director of nursing operations. |
