Faces&PlacesMarch 2003Martha Hanson was appointed assistant to the lieutenant governor by Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie. Hanson was communications director for Dubie's 2002 campaign and serves on the St. Johnsbury School Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment. She is a corporator of the St. Johnsbury Development Fund. Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organization announced two staff additions. Susan Smichenko was named senior transportation planner. She has worked in transportation engineering and planning in Connecticut, Georgia and New York. Daryl Benoit is a transportation planner. He was with the Vermont Center for Geographic Information and the Center for Rural Studies at the University of Vermont. Denise Whittier has returned to Business People Vermont magazine as an advertising representative. She has a degree in communications and public relations and many years' experience in sales. The Community Health Center of Burlington announced the appointment of Michael Sirois, M.D., as medical director. He has 16 years' experience, most recently as medical director of Central Vermont Home Health Agency. The Property Management Division at Redstone announced the addition of Bob McGrath and Ian Dewey to the maintenance team. McGrath was with General Dynamics. Dewey is a Burlington firefighter who has worked in the landscape design industry for 10 years. Truex Cullins & Partners Architects announced three additions to the staff. Keith Nelson has joined the architectural design team. He was with Bechtel Frank Erickson Architects in Lexington, Mass. Debbie Palmer was named controller. She was controller for Burlee.com, a Web-hosting company. Erin Murphy is a part-time administrative assistant, working toward an advance certificate in accounting at Champlain College. Banknorth Vermont announced the promotion of William M. MacKinnon to regional commercial manager, overseeing Chittenden, Franklin and Lamoille counties. He continues to work at the bank's Main Street office in Burlington. Randall J. Schievella joined Wachovia Securities as vice president-investments, working in the firm's Colchester office. He was with Merrill Lynch. SymQuest Group Inc. has hired Ken Godzik as sales representative on the southern document output sales team. Mike Powloka was named field service technician for the southern document output team. Both Godzik and Powloka were with IKON. National Pension Service Inc. promoted Amy Martin to the position of pension analyst. Martin has been with the firm since September 2000. The law firm Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC elected attorney Frank V. Fontana to membership in the firm. As member and director, he shares in the ownership and management of the firm. Fontana joined DRM in 1999. Scott Carpenter, a senior vice president in KeyBank's McDonald Financial Group, was named president of the bank's Vermont district. With Key since 1991, Carpenter succeeds Charles Smith, who was chosen by Gov. James Douglas to oversee the state's Agency of Human Services. DuBois & King Inc. announced that Heather Voisin, formerly Heather Leitch, has rejoined the company and will work in the Randolph office as a civil engineer and environmental specialist. On Jan. 1, the financial advisory firm Simson Carney and Zais LLC became Simson Carney Antell & Zais LLC with the addition of Jim Antell III. Antell owned Antell Financial Services in Colchester. Morse, Payson & Noyes, an affiliate of Banknorth Insurance Group in Portland, Maine, appointed Donald G. Raymond senior vice president for the Employee Benefits and Life divisions in Northern New England, which includes Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. He was with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Joseph L. Boutin, president and chief executive officer of Merchants Bank, announced the appointment of Kelley S. Jordick as branch president of the bank's Jericho office. Jordick was with Charter One Bank.'Holly L. Farnsworth was named branch president of the Springfield office. She has held several positions since joining Merchants Bank in 1993. Scully Interactive, a Web development firm in Burlington, hired Reid Sterrett as director of sales and business development. He comes to Vermont from New York City. · |
