Vermont has a wide selection of institutions of higher learning that draw students from all over the world. They range from state-funded colleges to schools with international programs. Several offer evening and/or online courses. Here’s a short list of them with contact info.

Bennington College: Bennington. 700 undergraduates. Bachelor’s and master’s degrees. www.bennington.edu. 

Burlington College: Burlington. 240 undergraduates. Associate’s and bachelor’s degrees. www.burlcol.edu. 

Champlain College: Burlington. 2,500 students. Bachelor’s and master’s degrees and professional certificates. www.champlain.edu.

College of St. Joseph: Rutland. 500 students. Associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees. www.csj.edu.

Goddard College: Plainfield. About 200 undergraduates. Bachelor’s and master’s degrees. www.champlain.edu.

Green Mountain College: Poultney. About 700 students. Bachelor’s degrees. Focuses on environmental studies.

Marlboro College: Marlboro. 330 students. Bachelor’s degrees, plus a Graduate Center in Brattleboro.

Middlebury College: Middlebury. 2,350 students. Bachelor’s degrees plus graduate programs and a summer immersion program in nine languages.

New England Culinary Institute: 500 students. Montpelier and Essex Junction. Associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in culinary arts. 7:1 student-teacher ratio in the kitchen.

St. Michael’s College: Colchester. 1,900 undergraduates. Bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Renowned international program in intensive English.

School for International Training: Brattleboro. Master’s degrees in international studies; 1- or 2-year formats, focus on English to speakers of other languages. www.sit.edu.

Southern Vermont College: 500 students. Associate’s and bachelor’s degrees. Sprang from College of St. Joseph in Rutland. www.svc.edu.

Sterling College: Craftsbury Common. 90 students. Associate’s and bachelor’s degrees, focusing on the environment. Affiliated Center for Northern Studies division offers a one-year academic program.

University of Vermont: Burlington. 10,000 students. A Land Grant college offering bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. Home to Vermont’s only medical school. www.uvm.edu.
