Ernest, Sharon and Annette Menard sold a parcel of land and commercial buildings at 2931 Waterbury-Stowe Road to Newhouse Waterbury LLC. The property had been occupied by Waterbury Agway.  Duncan Harris of Redstone represented Sandora Industries in the sale of 90 Parah Road in St. Albans. The 16,225-square-foot industrial/warehouse building on 3.5 acres is in the Franklin Park West Industrial Park. Harris also procured the buyer, Alltech Inc., a biotechnology company from Nicholasville, Ky.

 Grand View Farms has bought an 11,000-square-foot retail store at 2785 Shelburne Road in Shelburne from Edmund and Caroline Koehler. Tony Blake and Bill Kiendl of V/T Commercial assisted the buyer and seller.

The law firms of Primmer & Piper and Eggleston & Cramer announced their merger to form Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer to be effective Jan. 1. The joined firm, with more than 30 lawyers, will be Vermont’s second-largest. Offices are at 150 South Champlain St. in Burlington.

John Dwight, asset manager, leased 1,350 square feet of office space at the new Lake and College Street office building from Main Street Landing. Jed Dousevicz of V/T Commercial assisted both parties.

In an agreement with JSD Management, SymQuest Group has expanded its headquarters by 5,500 square feet to accommodate its rapidly growing network operations center. The Calvary Chapel of Burlington has leased 2,000 square feet of space at 209 Blair Park in Williston from Pre Tech Plastics. Jed Dousevicz of V/T Commercial assisted the landlord and tenant.

Mike Anderson, formerly of Learning Works Training and Development, acquired Petra Cliffs Climbing Center in Burlington from Chip Schlegel. Anderson is an author and trainer with more than 15 years’ experience in adventure-based learning.

Burlington marketing group Kelliher Samets Volk announced the purchase of Platinum Design, a strategic design firm in Manhattan. The acquisition will expand KSV’s communications offerings and provide a New York presence for the company. The firms will continue to operate under their respective names. Longtime Platinum employee Estee Pouleris will serve as managing director and partner.

Middlebury College has sold a 30-acre property, site of the former Maple Manor Motel on U.S. 7, to Middlebury South Village LLC. A development to be built on the property, consisting of commercial space and residential neighborhoods,including affordable housing, received unanimous approval from the Middlebury Planning Commission. All other required land-use permits have been received.

Vermont Teddy Bear Co. was taken private by an investment group led by The Mustang Group LLC, a private equity firm based in Boston. The company’s ownership continues to include significant participation by Vermont investors, which include members of the company’s management team and Fresh Tracks Capital, a Middlebury investment firm. Elisabeth Robert, the company’s president and CEO, will continue in her position, as will the company’s executive officers Irene Steiner, Catherine Camardo and Mark Sleeper.

Tim Burke of David G. White & Associates Inc. of Burlington announced the signing of a 20-year lease for 7,200 square feet with the U.S. Postal Service at the Ethan Allen Shopping Center on North Avenue in Burlington. Burke represented the landlord, Hauke Building Supply Inc. Construction on the post office has begun.

Grand View Farms has purchased an 11,000-square-foot retail store at 2785 Shelburne Road in Shelburne. The fully-leased building is occupied by Dunkin Donuts and America’s Mattress. Tony Blake and Bill Kiendl of V/T Commercial assisted the buyer and sellers.

The Howard program will take the Resource Management Consultants name. The program will continue to operate out of The Howard Center’s offices on Pine Street.

James Hester, the head of Vermont operations for MVP Health Care, announced MVP’s merger with Preferred Care of Rochester, N.Y. The combined company will retain the name MVP Health Care. Preferred Care, established in 1979, serves more than 265,000 individuals in the greater Rochester region. Its network includes 3,600 physicians and health care professionals. MVP, founded in 1983, has a network of 14,000 physicians and 115 hospitals and insures 550,000 individuals.

Rick Harrison of J.L. Davis Realty was the listing broker in the sale of an 8,938-square-foot office building at 137 Iroquois Ave., Essex Junction, to Secure Financial Services Inc. The seller was 137 Iroquois Avenue LLC. Selling broker was Jeff Nick, also of J.L. Davis.

Principals of the buyer are Doug Nedde and Larry Williams.

Tony Blake, tenant representative for Unilever USA, announced the signing of a lease for Ben & Jerry’s corporate headquarters in South Burlington. The more than 64,000 square feet will provide the company more efficient and redesigned space for its research and development, human resources, public relations and administrative offices.

Rick Harrison of J.L. Davis Realty was the listing and selling broker in the sale of commercial lots 39 and 40, on Commerce Avenue in South Burlington. The 4.2 acres were sold by John and Joyce Belter; the buyer was LNP Inc.

Gardener’s Supply of Burlington has leased a 140,000-square-foot distribution facility from REM Development Co. at 5 New England Drive in Essex Junction. The facility will consolidate the company’s distribution operations under one roof and provide for future expansion. Before, the company operated centers in Winooski and Georgia.

Lightship Telecom of Bedford, N.H., with offices in Williston, announced its merger with CTC Communications of Waltham, Mass. The new company will operate as CTC Communications; corporate offices will be in Waltham. CTC has provided telecommunication services to business customers throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions for more than 20 years. Lightship, founded in 1998, serves business customers in New England from its headquarters and six regional offices. The Vermont office of CTC will continue at 1193 S. Brownell Road.

Quechee Lakes Development Co., developer of the Quechee Lakes private home community in Hartford, announced that Taurus Investment Holdings LLC has become its new partner, replacing Greenallon LLC. Quechee Lakes’ original principals will continue to oversee the development. Taurus is a privately funded owner, developer and investor in commercial, residential and retail real estate based in Boston.

Tim Burke of David G. White & Associates Inc. of Burlington announced the leasing of a 4,100-square-foot space by Waterfront Video at 370 Shelburne Road Shopping Plaza in South Burlington. Burke represented the landlord.

SoVerNet announced that it has purchased Unicel's long-distance customer base in Vermont. Tom Lyons, president of SoVerNet, announced that the company will continue to offer Unicel's residential and business customers low rates. Customers will receive easy-to-read, detailed invoices and will have a wide array of residential and business services available to them, including calling cards for long-distance calls while traveling. Unicel will continue to focus on its wireless voice and data telephone services.

John J. Rao III, Steve Donahue, Brian Waxler and Yves Bradley of Pomerleau Real Estate represented the owner in the sale of the commercial building and parking garage at 7 Fayette Road Plaza in South Burlington.

The Vermont Family Business Initiative has merged with The Vermont Business Center, a joint venture of the UVM school of business administration and Continuing Education. After running the two programs in parallel for two years, it was deemed that a joint venture of their respective directors was a natural fit. Therefore, Janice St. Onge and Daniel Van Der Vliet will share the title of director of the Vermont Business Center.

New England Federal Credit Union has purchased a 2.92-acre parcel of land on St. George Road in Williston from J. Larry Williams. Charlie Poulin of Pomerleau Real Estate represented the credit union, and Doug Nedde of Redstone represented Williams.

Revision Eyewear, a Canada-based developer of purpose-built eyewear for military, law enforcement and tactical clients worldwide, announced it has closed a $4.1 million round of equity financing. Proceeds from the financing will be largely dedicated to the expansion of Revision's U.S. operations, primarily its 8,000-square-foot Vermont facility at 87 Holly Court in Williston. The Williston site is the company's headquarters for serving U.S. military, law enforcement and tactical markets.

Cayce Ludwar has bought the Jazzercise Fitness Center at 85 Bishop Ave., Suite 2, in Williston from Jill Nitz, the center's founder. The center hosts 30 classes each week. Ludwar has been a Jazzercise teacher for five years. Nitz, who opened the first Jazzercise classes 13 years ago in Essex Junction, will continue to teach her regular classes.

Melinda Moulton of Main Street Landing and Jeffrey Hollender, president and CEO of Seventh Generation Inc. of Burlington, announced that Seventh Generation has agreed to lease 30,000 square feet in the Lake and College Redevelopment Project on Burlington's waterfront. The company plans to use three floors of the building.

LandVest has acquired Shire Town Real Estate in Woodstock. Jon Weber, former president and principal broker for Shire Town, is now broker-in-charge for the office. The Boston-based firm also has offices in Manchester and Burlington.

The members of Ethan Allen Credit Union in Orleans have voted to merge into NorthCountry Federal Credit Union. NorthCountry will gain 800 account-holders and about $1.8 million in assets. The credit union will continue to serve Ethan Allen employees from an office within the factory until a more suitable location can be found. John Benoit, CEO of NorthCountry, announced that Janelle Green will remain as an employee of NorthCountry.

Greg Hahr, president and CEO of LibertyQuest Mortgage in Williston, and Lou Dunham, president and CEO of Ameribank, with offices in Florida, Ohio and West Virginia, announced the creation of a joint venture named Ameribank Mortgage. The new company will become a subsidiary of Ameribank upon regulatory approval. LibertyQuest will continue to offer mortgage loan products under its own name.

Kidder Manufacturing, a metal-working equipment manufacturer in South Burlington, announced the acquisition of Pressure Handle, maker of a lightweight attachment that gives hand drills the ability to handle work that normally would have been moved to a drill press. Manufacturing of the Pressure Handle was moved from the Northwest to Vermont.

The inn dates back to 1796 and is on the National Historic Register. The new owners plan to restore and preserve the underutilized two-story building. Possible plans include a tavern/restaurant or retail spaces on the first floor and offices or apartments on the upper floor. They are exploring the feasibility of converting the 40-unit motel building into condominiums or apartments.

Controlled Energy Corp. in Waitsfield is being acquired by BBT Thermotechnik, a subsidiary of the Bosch Group, Germany. Pierre and Mary Moffroid, who founded Controlled Energy, a producer of tankless, point-of-use and high-efficiency water heating equipment, in 1979, have retired. In 2004, Controlled Energy Corp. generated sales of $34 million with 70 employees in Vermont and at 15 locations throughout the United States and Canada. The company, which will continue to operate in Waitsfield, is managed by a team of senior executives with long service to the company: John Norton, chief operating officer; Kyle Murray, vice president marketing and customer service; and Eric Moffroid, senior vice president sales.

Bruce Bascom, president of Bascom Maple Farms of Alstead, N.H., a seventh-generation maple producer and family farm, announced the acquisition of Vermont Gold in Brattleboro. The deal, which includes both the brand name and the Vermont manufacturing facility, is expected to enhance Bascom's production capability and expands its presence in the specialty maple products category. Over the years, Bascom Maple Farms has grown to be one of the largest independent maple wholesalers in the nation. Bascom Maple Farms supports a network of small, independent farmers throughout the Northeast. Bascom also announced the establishment of Bascom Family Farms, a new branded products company to service customers of its Brown Family Farms, Coombs Family Farms and Vermont Gold brands.

Larry Rutherford and his wife, Debbie, have bought the appraisal firm Fred Blais Appraisers Inc. and renamed the company Highland Appraisals Inc. The business is located at 72 Helena Drive, Suite 230, Williston.

Tim Burke of David G. White & Associates Inc. announced the sale of the Ward property on N.Y. 3 in Plattsburgh, N.Y. The 14-acre land tract was sold to Aldi Inc., a Germany-based supermarket chain, for $600,000. Construction of a new supermarket will commence in the fall.

Tim Burke of David G. White & Associates Inc. of Burlington announced the signing of a long-term lease for the Leather Express store at 168 College St. in Burlington. Burke represented the tenant, Northfield Savings Bank. The bank will take occupancy in April and plans to open in September.

Tony Blake of V/T Commercial announced that Liberty Mutual has signed a lease for 11,138 square feet of office and retail space in a new building at Maple Tree Place in Williston. Liberty Mutual will consolidate many of its local offices to this facility.

John Benoit, CEO, announced that North Country Federal Credit Union has signed a lease for a larger site at 854 Center St., Lyndonville. The credit union expects to move from its Depot Street location in the spring. The new site will allow the addition of drive-up and ATM services plus off-street parking.

Gregory R. Liebert, P.E., has bought UAI Process Solutions Inc. from UAI Group Inc., based in Pennsylvania, and launched Liebert Engineering Inc.
