The Northern Vermont Financial Group of the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network announced that Angelique Farrell was named associate financial representative to David K. Damkot, Ph.D., CLU, ChFC, the managing director. Farrell has been with the office since 2004.

Jeremy Rathbun has joined Phelps Engineering Inc. as a project engineer. Rathbun earned his bachelor of science from Clarkson University and is a Registered Professional Engineer in mechanical engineering. 

Merchants Bank, the main operating subsidiary of Merchants Bancshares Inc., announced the election of Michael R. Tuttle as director. Tuttle is the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Merchants Bank and has been appointed by the bank’s board of directors as president and chief executive officer. He succeeds Joseph L. Boutin, who resigned. Boutin retains his positions as president and chief executive and a director of Merchants Bancshares.

The Economic Development Council of Northern Vermont Inc. has hired Bill Zuccareno as chief international officer. He has more than 12 years’ experience in international trade while working with more than 1,000 businesses while he was with the New World Trade Office. He will assist Vermont and Quebec businesses in border issues.

 Vermont 2-1-1, a program of United Ways of Vermont, announced several staffing changes. MaryEllen Mendl was hired as director. She was executive director of United Way of Addison County. Hired as information and referral specialists are Kim Legg, previously an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer with Champlain Initiative, and Cheryl Farnum Rendino. Promoted were Sharon Tierra, operations manager, and Cathy Nellis, senior information and referral specialist. 

 Johnson State College has named Kyle Dezotell, a Middlebury College alumnus and former member of the Vermont Voltage Professional Soccer Club, a full-time athletic recruiter. For two years, Dezotell has been head coach of men’s and women’s soccer teams at the college.


Propeller Media Works has added several full-time staff members. Bob Culver was hired as a Web designer/developer. Thomas Blow also joined the company as Web designer/developer. Craig Chevrier was named senior account manager responsible for delivering strategy and managing key accounts and projects. Culver has an associate’s degree from Champlain College in multimedia and graphic design and a bachelor of arts from the University of Vermont. Blow has an associate’s degree from Champlain College in graphic design and communications, and a bachelor of science in digital design from Philadelphia University. Chevrier has 11 years of Web agency management experience.

NorthCountry Federal Credit Union announced the following promotions: Jami Blair is branch supervisor in Orleans; Jessie Blake is head teller in East Montpelier; Katie Jacobs is head teller in South Burlington; Chantelle Davis is support services assistant. The following individuals were  hired as tellers: Rachel Kehoe in South Burlington; Lynn Therrien in East Montpelier; and Mike Cardinal in Colchester.

Gregory S. Mitchell has joined the corporate security department at TD Banknorth Inc. as a regional security officer based in Burlington. He has 15 years in bank security and was a district security officer at another large banking company. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Financial Services Security Professional. Brendon R. Davis was promoted to a branch service and sales representative at the Waitsfield office. He has six years in banking, with TD Banknorth Vermont and other community banks.


Union Bank announced several staffing changes. Cynthia Borck, executive vice president, will lead the bank’s product development, item processing and deposit operations departments. She is also a member of the board of directors. Stephen Kendall, vice president, returns to the main office to lead the consumer and retail mortgage lending activities. Jeff Coslett, vice president, will add branch administration to his duties as head of the human resources department. Lorraine Gordon, assistant vice president, will lead the training programs and assist with human resources. Peter Eley, senior vice president, will focus on the electronic banking/ATM and security department. Don Goodhue, information systems officer, will consolidate his responsibilities into managing the bank’s network and information systems.

Century 21 Jack Associates announced that Alain Boisjoli has joined its sales team. Boisjoli has been with the firm for a year and has nine years’ experience in the real estate business. He works in the South Burlington office.


Freeman French Freeman architecture firm has added two employees to its team: Adam Davis and John Zeichner. Davis was with Arrowstreet Inc. in Massachusetts for several years and with a Cambridge, Mass., firm. Zeichner graduated with a master of architecture from Norwich University in 2005, and was with Timberlock Vermont Frames.

Hettena Wright & Horton CPAs, P.C., of Williston hired Kiet Nguyen as a staff accountant. Nguyen will work in the business services department.

Main Street Landing announced that Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility has moved its offices to the Lake & College Building on Burlington’s waterfront. The new address is 60 Lake St., Suite 3N-G, Burlington. The phone number is 862-8347.


Joseph D. Lisaius, president of Lisaius Marketing, announced the promotion of Amy Fleming  to brand manager. Fleming was creative services manager. Will Lowry was hired as a designer. Lowry has been a freelance designer in Boston and Burlington.

 The law offices of Fred V. Peet announced that Nicole C. Nicklaw has become associated with the firm and will concentrate her practice in residential real estate.

Peter Gutgsell was hired as assistant vice president, underwriting and marketing, for Vermont Mutual Group in Montpelier. Gutgsell led the underwriting unit for John Deere Risk Protection, a subsidiary of Deere & Co.


Amy Apgar has joined Vermont Public Television as literacy coordinator for the Ready to Learn project. She will work with partners in the community to design and conduct workshops for parents, caregivers and educators of young children. Apgar is a reading consultant with the Orange North Supervisory Union and worked with the Vermont Reads Institute.

The Verde Group video and film production company announced the appointment of Jeff York to the newly created position of marketing director. York’s experience as a video production freelancer includes broadcast and cable networks and Fortune 500 companies. He was with Fox 44 and ABC 22 in Colchester.

Financial consultant Jay R. Provencher has joined Citizens Bank as a member of its investment services group, CCO Investment Services, in Burlington. Provencher was a financial consultant at Chittenden Securities.

Lisa Ventriss, president of the Vermont Business Roundtable, announced that Beth F. Volker was promoted to director of administration and member support. Volker, in her 18th year with the Business Roundtable, was hired as the organization’s first executive assistant. 


Bread Loaf Corp. architects, planners and builders announced the addition of three employees. Michael Bud was hired as information technologist. Bud received his master of science in information management from Syracuse University in 2005. Dale Ann Carreiro was hired as coordinator in the estimating department. She was with NRG Systems in Hinesburg. Erica Rose was named coordinator in the construction department. She was with Fletcher Allen Health Care.

NRG Systems Inc. announced the addition of six members to its team. Larry Zeno and Drew Lepple were hired as towers technicians. Zeno was at Shelburne Corp.; Lepple was with Catamount North Construction. David Rivers and Kim Anh Dinh were named electronics technicians. Both were with Huber + Suhner Inc. Kelly Munson was hired as an office administrator. Munson was with Chittenden Bank. Jim Remsen is working in inventory control. He was with Huber + Suhner Inc.

Fothergill Segale & Valley, Certified Public Accountants in Montpelier, announced that Lela McCaffrey has advanced to senior accountant. McCaffrey has been with the firm since November 2004.


John Evans, dean of the University of Vermont College of Medicine, announced the appointment of Karen Richardson-Nassif, Ph.D., as the college’s first associate dean for faculty and staff development and diversity. Richardson-Nassif, who also serves as director of pre-doctoral programs and research in family medicine and director of assessment in the office of medical education, joined the UVM faculty in 1991.

Bill Brady, president of the McLure Group, announced the affiliation of McLure Moving and Storage with Arpin Van Lines of Rhode Island. McLure has become an agent for Arpin Van Lines.


Vermont Gas has added two vice presidents to its management. Timothy Lyons is vice president of sales and marketing. He was with an energy consulting firm in Rhode Island. Jean-Marc Teixeira is vice president of operations. He was with PNGTS Operating Co. LLC in New Hampshire.

Robert D. Demont, president of Demont & Associates Inc., announced that Aric L. Walton was named a full-time associate. Walton will run phonathons for the philanthropic consulting firm in several states, including Vermont.

Joe Finnigan, president and CEO of the Vermont Federal Credit Union, announced the addition of Lisa Mitiguy Randall to the senior management team. Randall has more than 25 years’ financial services experience in lending and retail  operations. She was with Mater Christi School.


Jager DiPaola Kemp Design announced the opening of its New York City office and the appointment there of Tracey Taylor as account director and Jill Letts as office coordinator. In its Burlington office, JDK has appointed Jarrel Pertschuk as IS user support specialist, Aleisha Reynolds as color designer and Emily Bowden as brand strategist. Pertschuk was with a California school district. Reynolds was with the Timberland Co. in New Hampshire. Bowden, an intern with JDK in 2004, returns after a year with a New York firm.

Spruce Mortgage announced the return of Chad Gray and Nick Parent to its team of mortgage brokers.


Propeller Media Works hired Robert Riggen as a senior programmer and systems administration specialist. Riggen, a Certified Zend Engineer, was with National Gardening Association. The company hired Ben Ipsen as a Web programmer and application developer. A Certified Macromedia/Adobe Flash developer, Ipsen worked with General Electric and Dealer.com.


Charles Howe, chairman of Lyndonville Savings Bank, announced that Charles W. Bucknam, president, was appointed to the board of directors. Bucknam has been president and chief executive officer since 1994. David Redmond was promoted to executive vice president and chief executive officer. Redmond has been senior vice president and senior loan officer since 1998.

 Topnotch Resort and Spa has appointed Canadian hairstylist Robin Barker creative consultant and artistic director. Barker will make six weekend visits in 2006 for consultations and cuts. The company promoted Carol Crawford to Club Topnotch sales manager. Crawford was banquet and conference manager at the resort for 15 years.
