Faces&PlacesMarch 2007Place Creative Co., a branding firm in Burlington, hired Sara Wursthorn as designer. Wursthorn will work on accounts for clients such as Anichini, Lake Champlain Chocolates and Darn Tough Vermont. David Mickenberg is the newest associate at Mickenberg, Dunn, Kochman, Lachs and Smith PLC. His practice will concentrate on government relations, public affairs, domestic relations and civil litigation. For the last year, Mickenberg was a Dorot Fellow in Washington, D.C., at the Alliance for Justice, working on research and advocacy related to presidential appointees to the federal judiciary. He is a 2005 graduate of City University of New York School of Law. Andrea Cohen has joined Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility as public policy coordinator. Cohen was employed at the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources for 16 years and has experience in public education and legislative advocacy. She has helped develop VBSR’s legislative initiatives for the 2007 session. Poulin Performance Personal Training & Rehabilitation in South Burlington announced the addition of Deb Wark to its staff as personal trainer and fitness professional. Wark is ACE- and AFAA-certified and specializes in small-group training, working with clients in PPRC’s two South Burlington locations. Chittenden Corp. hired John B. Eagan as vice president and counsel for the legal department. Eagan will advice the corporation and its subsidiaries on legal issues, primarily in the areas of commercial lending, trust administration, deposit accounts, payroll services and general contract negotiation. He is a member of the Massachusetts, Berkshire County and Vermont Bar associations. The Helen Day Art Center announced the appointment of Idoline Duke as exhibition director. A lifelong artist, Duke has served on the center’s board of directors for three years and on the visual arts committee for eight. She was guest curator for the 2006 exhibition Language of Water, featuring the work of Lincoln artist Janet Fredericks. For 20 years, Duke has owned and operated a landscape design business. Child Care Resource announced recent staff appointments. Lee Ann Start was named business manager; Meghan Flanders is coordinator of professional development; and Heather Duhamel is recruitment and early education specialist. Start was with Hettena Wright & Horton, where she developed a focus on accounting for nonprofits. Flanders has been in the early childhood field for 11 years, most recently as program director of the South Hero location of the Champlain Islands Parent-Child Center. Duhamel was executive director of the Champlain Islands Parent-Child Center and worked at the University of Vermont as an infant/toddler teacher and mentor teacher for four years. The National Council for Performance Excellence, a partner of Vermont Council for Quality, appointed Mark Alpert of North Andover, Mass., as president. He will also serve as a director on Vermont Council for Quality’s advisory board of directors. Alpert was senior vice president for TUV America in Massachusetts for 15 years. Both the National Council and Vermont Council for Quality are based in Colchester. Worth Mountain Capital Partners announced the addition of Libby Klein to its team. Klein is relocating to Middlebury from Manhattan to join the firm as an analyst. In May 2006, she graduated cum laude from Amherst College, where she majored in geology. New England Culinary Institute has named Roger Schoenbeck chief financial officer. Schoenbeck joins NECI with almost 25 years of financial leadership positions. He spent 22 years at the Vermont Housing Finance Agency, where he was chief financial officer and treasurer, and was most recently with Sallie Mae in Reston, Va., as senior director of debt management operations. At NECI, he will lead the finance, purchasing and student accounts teams. Charles Kail, managing partner of Leadership Management Institute in Burlington, announced that Michael Page joined the company as an associate partner. Page has more than 25 years’ direct sales, sales training and sales management experience. He and Kail have worked on various projects together over the last decade. Champlain Vocational Services Inc. in Colchester announced the hiring of Mike Reilly as development coordinator. Reilly has experience in sales, communications and managing community-based organizations. Three Tomatoes Trattoria in Burlington announced a comprehensive renovation project, adding a full bar and private dining room and aesthetic changes to the dining room decor. The owners, Jim Reiman and Robert Meyers, teamed up with Steve Farrar of 23 Tons, a strategic design and brand manifestation company. DuBois & King announced that Dan Moss, P.E., joined the firm as a senior project engineer in the water resources department. He came to Vermont from a North Carolina firm. Scott Berkey was hired as a design engineer in the water resources department. Both work in the Randolph office. Chi Yang joined Hampton Direct importing and distribution firm in Williston as a product sourcing assistant. Yang holds a master of business administration from the University of Chongqing, China, and a bachelor of science in engineering. NEHP, providing FDA-regulated industries with process-piping solutions and modularization for semiconductor and life sciences, named Peter Sbrollini director, life sciences business development. Sbrollini has more than 20 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical and life science industries. Heindel and Noyes Environmental Consulting of Burlington announced two additions to its staff. Steven LaRosa was named senior project manager in hazardous waste operations. He has more than 20 years’ experience and is OSHA-certified as a hazardous waste site supervisor. David Wechsler is director of New England air-quality testing. He has worked in air toxics and hazardous waste laboratories for nearly 20 years. |
