Faces&PlacesMarch 2008Larry A. Decker was promoted to vice president within the general services administration division at TD Banknorth in Burlington. He will oversee corporate construction projects for New England and Mid-Atlantic locations. Decker has been with the bank since 2005. Steffen Parker joined ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, as facilitator of Voices for the Lake. Parker is a 15-year volunteer water-quality monitor for the lake and was water quality coordinator for Colchester. Langrock Sperry & Wool LLP announced the addition of two partners and an associate. The partners are Thomas J. Sherrer, who became of counsel in October 2005, after having practiced law in Burlington for 20 years; and Sarah Gentry Tischler, who became of counsel to the firm in November 2006. Hobart F. Popick joined the firm as an associate after practicing law for four years in a Boston firm. Clear Water Filtration in Warren announced the hiring of two individuals. Jenneth Fleckenstein is marketing and business development manager. She was with a local orthopedic rehabilitation facility. Steve Parker was promoted to sales manager. He joined the company as a service technician and was recently a salesman in the Burlington area. Scott Sorrell has joined Chef Jozef Harrewyn of Chef’s Corner in Williston as business partner and co-owner. An accomplished chef, Sorrell returned to Vermont after working in Hawaii for nearly 10 years at several Five Star resorts, most recently, the Grand Wailea Resort in Maui as head chef of its signature restaurant, The Humuhumu. He is a native Vermonter and a graduate of the New England Culinary Institute. The Vermont Secretary of State’s Office announced that Mary L. Botter, Ph.D., RN, was appointed director of the Vermont Board of Nursing. Botter was associate dean at the University of Vermont and senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at Fletcher Allen Health Care. She replaces Anita Ristau, MS, RN, who is retiring. The board of directors of McFarland-Johnson Inc. of Binghamton, N.Y., with six offices including Burlington, announced that Richard J. Brauer, P.E., was elected to the position of president and chief executive officer of the company. He succeeds Tom Coughlin, PE, who is retiring. Randy Pratt was named executive director of the Association of Vermont Recyclers. He was with the Vermont Public Service Board. Carl Witke was named educational programs manager. He has a background in education, natural resource management, and forestry. Neville Companies announced the addition of Jon J. Bucci in the property management division. He coordinates the maintenance technicians and is the liaison to the tenants for maintenance issues. Century 21 Advantage announced that Hannah Gregory joined the team of real estate professionals. James D. Boothroyd, P.E., president of Hoyle, Tanner & Associates Inc. of Manchester, N.H., with 117 offices, including one in Vermont, announced ownership changes, including new stockholders as a result of a stock offering. Six stockholders were named, including five from New Hampshire and Charles H. Swanson, P.E., of Fairfax. Hank Gintof, president of Signature Properties of Vermont, announced the addition of two professionals to the firm: Gina Masters, a Realtor for more than five years, and Jason Lefebvre, a recent graduate of the University of Vermont. They work in the offices at the Essex Towne Marketplace. Sarah Carpenter, executive director of the Vermont Housing Finance Agency, announced that Martha Panton, PHR, was named human resources/office manager. Panton was with HallerLee Human Resources Consulting LLC in Burlington. Bill Cairns has joined the CCTV Center for Media & Democracy as director of technical services. He was with Comcast Cable and has been an engineering consultant since 1987. Kathleen Swanson was named director of development. An experienced journalist, she was with Green Mountain Power. Gallagher, Flynn & Co. LLP announced the hiring of Carl Haasper as a staff accountant in the tax practice. Haasper was with J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. Benjamin J. Scribner was hired as an executive recruiter in the human resource consulting practice. He was at Management Recruiters International and is the owner of Scribner Construction and Development. Charles Kittredge of Middlesex was named chief executive officer of Crane & Co. of Dalton, Mass., a maker of fine stationery and the manufacturer of the distinctive paper for the United States currency since 1879. Kittredge has served on the board of Crane & Co. since 1995, and was elected chairman in 2006. He was a senior vice president of the National Life Group in Montpelier. Larry Sudbay, president and chief executive officer of SymQuest Group Inc., announced that David Tallman joined the company as service technician. Tallman has 14 years’ experience with copier equipment and is certified by Konica and Ricoh. Union Bank announced the addition of Lura Jacques as assistant vice president and trust officer for the bank’s western service area, and Lois Pigeon as branch manager for the St. Albans office. Jacqes was with TD Banknorth, and Pigeon was with Citizens Bank. They will have temporary offices at Union Bank’s Loan Center in St. Albans until moving into the branch at Mapleville Depot, which is under construction. Travis Whitmore joined Peregrine Design/Build as the company’s estimator. Whitmore was on the sales team at Rice Lumber The Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center in Randolph Center announced the hiring of Anne Wood as office manager and Erin Quatrini as marketing and training manager. Wood was with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont. Quatrini was with Littleton Coin Co. in Littleton, N.H. Erin E. Evarts, former assistant director for The Haunted Forest, was named development and outreach coordinator for the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Vermont (NAMI-Vermont) in Waterbury. Jeremiah Eckhaus, MD, joined Montpelier Health Center, a Central Vermont Medical Center group. Eckhaus is certified by the American Board of Family Practice and the American Board of Holistic Medicine. He was with the Grand River Medical Center in Colorado. Bruce F. Cheeseman joined Otter Creek Awnings, Sunrooms & Custom Closets of Williston as a project manager in the sunroom division. He was with Pizzagalli Construction. Mike Belanger was promoted to field supervisor. He has been with Otter Creek since 2007. Susan Poczobut, CEO of Granite Hills Credit Union of Barre and Montpelier, announced the addition of Scott Roberts and Christopher C. Jensen as financial services officers. Roberts was with Chittenden Bank. He will work in the Montpelier branch. Jensen, also formerly with Chittenden, will work in the home office in Barre. Jane O’Meara Sanders, president of Burlington College, announced that filmmaker Allan Nicholls joined the faculty of the Burlington College Film School as director of film and video production. He has had a long and varied career in film, stage and music, having worked with such acclaimed film directors as George Roy Hill, Tim Robbins, John Madden, and Philip Noyce; and alongside actors such as Paul Newman, Robin Williams and Susan Sarandon. He also worked as an associate producer of Saturday Night Live for three seasons. In Vermont, he was senior broadcast producer at JDK Design. Freeman French Freeman announced that Steve O. Clark, AIA, joined the firm as a project architect. He has 20 years’ experience, having served on the AIA Vermont executive committee and as adjunct professor at Norwich University’s department of architecture and art. Michael P. Welch, CIC, CPIM, joined Vermont Mutual Insurance Group in Montpelier as a commercial lines underwriter. He was assistant vice president of underwriters at Underwriters Agency of New England. NRG Systems Inc. in Hinesburg announced the addition of Paul Carpenter to its materials processing team. Carpenter was a manufacturing technician with IBM in Essex Junction. Nancy Devarney was promoted to market manager of the St. Albans office at Chittenden Bank. She has experience as customer service representative, assistant branch manager and assistant market manager. Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer PC of Burlington, Montpelier and St. Johnsbury, announced that Keith Roberts and Russell Young have become directors and shareholders of the firm. Roberts has been with the firm since 2004; Russell, since 2001. Shireen Hart is now of counsel. She has been with the firm since 2000. Amanda Rosenfeld was hired as an associate. She was at the New England office of the Anti-Defamation League. Amy Mason was named government relations specialist. She spent several years interning for former Sen. James Jeffords and managed legal recruiting for firms in Boston and Washington, D.C. Rick Milliken, general manager of the DoubleTree Hotel Burlington, announced that Sarah Hammitt has rejoined the sales office as corporate sales manager. She started in the sales department in 2000 and, in 2007, was promoted to front office manager. United Way of Chittenden County named John Cronin community campaign manager. He was a Loaned Executive at United Way sponsored by KeyBank and Merchants Bank. He was the CEO and president of the American Lung Association of Vermont from 2004 to 2007. Bobbe Maynes was named director of communications and development. She has served as director of communications for the last two years, and the duties of resource development initiatives were added to her responsibilities. The law firm of Dinse, Knapp & McAndrew PC announced that Afi Ahmadi and Amy McLaughlin were elected directors. Both have been with the firm since 1999. Annemarie Daniels was promoted to vice president of real estate services at Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman Realty. She serves as the principal broker overseeing the firm’s 60 licensed Realtors. Sybil Chicoine was promoted to vice president of marketing. She has been with the company since 2004. Tim Loucks was promoted to general manager, global tooling for Husky Injection Molding Systems. He has been with the company since 2002. Geoff Glaspie was promoted to general manager, tooling operations in Milton. He has been with the company since 1998. • |
