Barbara Dutile was named store manager at maurices, a specialty fashion store at University Mall in South Burlington.

Kelliher Samets Volk promoted Rachel Gage to the position of brand manager. Gage has been with the agency for five years.

TD Bank promoted Erika D. Downing to store manager at 39 Main St. in Stowe. Downing joined TD Bank in 2009 as a teller and was most recently a customer service representative.

St. Michael’s College named Islamic history scholar Katharina Ivanyi assistant professor of religious studies and of history. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Oxford University, and in 2012, her doctorate from Princeton University. Carlos Vega, former sports marketing intern at St. Michael’s, was named assistant director of admission for multicultural enrollment. Emily Burke Dousevicz, the former director of annual giving at the University of Vermont, was named graduate program marketing coordinator.

Security One Lending hired Scott Funk as a reverse mortgage consultant for the Green Mountain region. Funk was a home equity conversion specialist at MetLife Bank.


Johnson State College announced the addition of two full-time faculty members. David Plazek, Ph.D., associate professor, will teach political science as a member of the department of humanities. He was with Lyndon State College. Amy Welch, Ph.D., joined the department of environmental and health sciences. She was with Iowa State University in the department of kinesiology.

James Condos, secretary of state, and the Vermont Board of Pharmacy announced that Ronald J. Klein, RPh, was appointed executive officer of the Vermont Board of Pharmacy. Klein was head of the Montana Board of Pharmacy.

KeyBank hired Douglas Graham as senior vice president and commercial banking relationships manager covering Vermont. Graham has more than 33 years’ experience in commercial and retail banking. He was with TD Bank.


Karen Whitby joined Keller Williams Realty Green Mountain Properties as a licensed sales associate and Realtor. Whitby has 30 years’ experience in sales and marketing and has owned a consulting business for the last 18 years.

White + Burke Real Estate Investment Advisors Inc. announced the addition of Paul Simon as project manager. Simon’s experience includes nationally recognized park projects across the country. He chairs the Colchester development review board.

Philip S. Spillane, MBA, CFP, and principal of Bell Wealth Management, announced the expansion of his firm with the opening of an office in Newport, R.I.

Don Vickers, president and CEO of the Vermont Student Assistance Corp., announced his plan to retire, to be effective June 30, 2013. Vickers has been with VSAC since 1971 and president and CEO since 1988.


Champlain Community Services Inc. hired two service coordinators. Katherine Martin, QDDP, has five years’ human services experience with adolescents to seniors. She was with HowardCenter. Liz Tedrick-Moutz has a background in the fields of domestic and sexual violence. She was with Women Helping Battered Women.

Lauren Bailey, MSN, CHPN, APRN-BC, joined Mountainview Medical on the Berlin campus of Central Vermont Medical Center. Bailey was with Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice.


DuBois & King Inc. announced that Sam Goater, E.I.T., joined the firm’s transportation team as a design engineer. A recent graduate of the University of Southampton with a bachelor of engineering, he is working on his master’s degree. Jill Murphy joined the firm as a staff accountant. She was with the Central Vermont Building Bright Futures Council. Sawyer Sutton, a former journalist at the Stowe Reporter, joined the marketing team. All three work at the firm’s Randolph headquarters.

Stowe Realty announced that two vacation specialists, James Nichols and Oliver Hellested, have joined the firm.

Kevin Morehouse joined the Vermont district office of the U.S. Small Business Administration as a lender relations specialist. Morehouse has 15 years’ commercial and small business finance experience. He was with USDA Rural Development.

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. announced that Jason Keener joined the firm as a civil engineer in the land development and civil engineering group. Keener was a U.S. Army signal officer in Iraq and Germany. He holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from Clarkson University.

The Vermont Health Insurance Co-op announced the hiring of Chad Somerset as chief information officer and Tara Banks as director of finance. Somerset was with GE Healthcare, and Banks was with Marsh Management Services.

Caleidoscope Communications hired Kathleen McKenzie as customer service specialist. McKenzie’s background in telecommunications and customer service spans over 30 years.

Kathy Sollien and Troy Richardson, the founders of RE/MAX Maple Leaf Realty in Bennington, announced the firm’s transition to an independent firm to be known as Maple Leaf Realty.


Maple Leaf Farm announced the promotion of Diane Bertelsen to assessment counselor. Bertelsen joined the staff in 2009. Eric Leff, a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years’ experience in the mental health and substance abuse treatment field, was hired as a case manager.

Dori LaFrance Richards was promoted to underwriting manager in the credit department of Merchants Bank. Richards has more than 30 years’ experience at the bank.

Alyssa McBride joined Davis & Hodgdon Associates CPAs as an associate accountant. A graduate of St. Michael’s College, McBride recently completed a tax internship with the firm.


Green Mountain Clock Shop hired Bob Dulude as an apprentice clockmaker/service technician. He has 10 years’ retail management experience. Sharon Dulude was hired as administrative assistant. She has worked as a registered nurse for 20 years.

Jessica Baussmann of Beau Ties Ltd. of Vermont was promoted to manager of customer service and social media, a newly created position. She joined the company in 2005.

New England Air Systems hired Anna Hartwell as accounts payable administrator. She was with DEW Construction.
