Jane (Blittersdorf) Blomstrann, the owner, president, and CEO of NRG Systems, announced the change of the company’s name to Renewable NRG Systems Inc., reflecting a rebranding that highlights the company’s commitment to “providing whole systems and solutions to the renewable energy market.”

Amy Poirier was named a vice president of Vermont Mechanical Inc. She has been with the company since 1998 and has led the operations department for the last seven years. Blaine Conner joined the engineering department as an HVAC designer. John Plankey, P.E., joined the engineering department as senior mechanical engineer. He will lead HVAC and plumbing design work on commercial and institutional projects. Craig Butkus returned to the company as senior project manager. He held various positions in the organization previously.

Champlain College announced four faculty appointments. Laurel Bongiorno, dean of education and human studies, has been a full-time faculty member at Champlain since 1999. Paula Willoquet-Maricondi, dean of communications and creative media, joined the college July 1. She was at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Wes Balda was named interim dean of the Stiller School of Business, where he will serve for two years. He has served on the faculty of several universities. G. Thomas Mann is interim dean of the information technology and science division. He was at Mountain State University in Beckley, W. Va.

Union Mutual of Vermont Companies announced that Michael W. Nobles was promoted to chief operating officer. Nobles joined the company in 1995 as a staff accountant. Jennifer P. Galfetti was promoted to assistant treasurer She joined the company in 2009 as accounting manager.

Fead Construction Law has moved to Suite 300, East O’Lake House, 1233 Shelburne Road, South Burlington (in Lakewood Commons). The telephone number, 863-5808, remains the same. The firm has also opened a satellite office in the Colby Mansion, 1080 Waterbury-Stowe Road, Waterbury.

Steve Koenemann was hired as development manager for Vermont Mutual Insurance Group. He has more than 25 years of information technology experience and was a technology business owner for many years. He was with National Life Insurance Group.

Kara Danaher joined Lang McLaughry Real Estate as a licensed associate. Danaher is a former teacher and a Vermont native.

National Life Group announced that Kathleen Alfano was named vice president and chief underwriter. Alfano was vice president and head of underwriting at Prudential Financial. David Longfritz was appointed vice president of marketing for life and annuity. He was with John Hancock Financial Services. Christopher B. Zimmerman joined the company as senior counsel. He was with Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Door, a Boston law firm.

The Vermont Community Foundation, the High Meadows Fund, and Middlebury College announced that two recent Middlebury College graduates were hired for two-year fellowships with the VCF and the High Meadows Fund. Emily Jacke is the 2013-2015 Community Philanthropy Fellow, and Stu Fram is the Environmental Philanthropy Fellow at High Meadows, a supporting organization of the VCF.

Bread Loaf Corp. promoted Sean Paquette to project manager. He has managed various projects since his hiring, most recently a new facility for the police department in Antrim, N.H.

Kimberly McClellan was named director of quality and risk management at Northwestern Counseling & Support Services. McClellan was chief operating officer and human resources director at Lamoille County Mental Health Services.

KeyBank hired Michael Hayes as a licensed relationship manager, based out of the Essex Junction branch. He has more than 20 years’ experience in retail banking and was community banking manager at Merchants Bank.

Jean Burke, CPA, joined the Colchester CPA firm JMM & Associates as a member of its audit department, with specific focus on nonprofits. Her experience includes employment with a local nonprofit and two CPA firms.

Redstone hired Jack Washburn as junior staff accountant. He is a recent graduate of the University of Vermont with a degree in accounting.

The Vermont Chamber of Commerce announced several staff changes. Tori Ossola was hired as vice president of tourism. A St. Michael’s College grad, she was with Durango Mountain Resort. Karen Ballard was named president of the Vermont Attractions Association. She will continue as program director for the chamber’s Vermont Tourism Network. Wendy Knight, a former freelance journalist for The New York Times and ABC News Now, is communications director.

Maple Leaf Farm announced the addition of Shara Tarule, FNP-BC, to the primary care staff. She is a recent graduate of the University of Vermont’s nurse practitioner program.

The University of Vermont College of Medicine announced that David Schneider, M.D., a cardiologist and professor of medicine, was appointed director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute. He succeeds CVRI founding director Burton Sobel, M.D., who died in the spring of 2013. Schneider has been with UVM/Fletcher Allen since 1994. Kimberly Luebbers, MSHS, RN, BSN, OCN, was named assistant dean for clinical research administration. Luebbers joined Fletcher Allen in 1988. Nicholas Heintz, Ph.D., professor of pathology, was appointed director of the cellular, molecular, and biomedical sciences program. He succeeds Mary Tierney, Ph.D.

Rachel Feldman joined the office of Lt. Gov. Phil Scott as chief of staff. She replaces Nancy Driscoll, who was named chief marketing officer for the state. Feldman was Web and communications manager at the Vermont Arts Council.

Hoyle, Tanner & Associates announced that senior project manager Michael V. Schramm, P.E., LEED AP, was named an associate of the firm. He works in the Burlington office.

Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility, the Vermont Medical Society, and the Vermont Retail Association, working as a group, hired two navigators to provide direct assistance to small businesses and individuals statewide, helping them find the tools to compare and choose a quality, affordable, and comprehensive health plan as the state transitions to Vermont Health Connect. Anissa Lewis has worked as a Licensed Insurance Producer for central Vermont insurance agencies, most recently State Farm Insurance. Timothy B. Davis was a corporate market research analyst for Fletcher CSI and, most recently, in the financial services industry.

C2 (Competitive Computing) hired Kevin Jermy as project analyst. He was with Cisco Systems European headquarters in London as a finance analyst. Justin Scricca was named web analytics and business support specialist. He was in marketing with MyWebGrocer.

Renewable NRG Systems announced the hiring of four employees. Junda Zhu joined the team as systems engineer for the turbine optimization product line. He recently earned his doctorate in industrial engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Chris Wasser was named IT manager. He was an enterprise SharePoint architect with NTT Data in Montpelier. Cody Spiegel, an intern with the company since 2011, was hired as a full-time associate mechanical engineer for the turbine optimization product line. Robert Cole, sales associate, is a recent graduate of Middlebury College.

Johnson State College appointed Tommy Verdell assistant athletics director and head men’s basketball coach. Verdell was on the Bates College coaching staff.

Ryan Libbey, EIT, joined DuBois & King consulting engineers as a dam engineer in the civil works division. Libbey is a recent graduate of Clarkson University and works from the firm’s Randolph office.

Holly Buttura was promoted to production manager at Signal Advertising in Montpelier. She has been with the company since 2008 and will continue to design websites and manage email marketing for Signal’s clients in addition to her new duties.
