Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer PC announced that several attorneys were chosen for inclusion in the 2012 edition of Super Lawyers in one or more areas of law: Leo Bisson, Gary Burt, Gregory Clayton, Anne Cramer, Jon Eggleston, Gary Franklin, Thomas Pappas, L. Jonathan Ross, and Douglas Wolinsky. Listed as New England Rising Stars are Jennifer Turco Beaudet, Elijah Emerson, and Joslyn Wilschek.
The Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce named Ron Hance, president and CEO of Heritage Family Credit Union, its 2012 Business Person of the Year. Hance has been with the credit union since 1967. Franklin County Home Health Agency elected Bridget Howrigan Rivet, Marie Speer, Fern Mercure, and Michael Gawne to its board of directors. Officers elected were Gina Clark, chair; Barbara Murphy, vice chair; Vanessa Madden, secretary, and Andrew Bachand, treasurer.
Langrock Sperry & Wool LLP was ranked in the top tier in the categories of Commercial Litigation, Criminal Defense; Employment Law; Litigation; Personal Injury Litigation; Real Estate Law; and Trusts & Estates Law in the 2013 “Best Law Firms rankings released by U.S. News Media Group and Best Lawyers. The firm received Tier 2 rankings in several areas as well. Six attorneys were named to the New England Super Lawyers list: Alison J. Bell, Christopher L. Davis, David W. M. Conard, Lisa B. Shelkrot, Mitchell L. Pearl, and Thomas Z. Carlson. Shelkrot was also named one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in New England, one of only two Vermont attorneys so recognized. Erin Miller Heins was named to the New England Rising Stars list.
Paul Frank + Collins directors Robert G. Cain, Mark G. Hall, Alan D. Port, John T. Sartore, Of Counsel Allen D. Webster, and S. Crocker Bennett, the firm president, were recognized as top attorneys in the 2012 issue of New England Super Lawyers. Firm director Christopher J. Leff was chosen a New England Rising Star of 2012. Bennett, Hall, Port, and Sartore were listed in the 2013 Super Lawyers Business Edition. The firm also received a Tier 1 ranking in the 2013 edition of U.S. News-Best Lawyers “Best Law Firms” in the areas of Litigation-Eminent Domain & Condemnation and Litigation-Securities. Attorney John H. Draper received an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale Hubbell.
PC Construction’s Yellow River water reclamation facility in Lilburn, Ga., was named “Best of the Best” across the country by Engineering News-Record in the Civil Works/Infrastructure category. About 1,000 projects were submitted in 19 categories.
Mike Charron of the Vermont Center for Independent Living completed the ADA Coordinator Training Certification Program in two years rather than the expected three years, the first in the nation to do so.
Randall Raner, a principal of the Vermont Agency, received the Soaring Eagle award from Kinder Brothers International in Dallas. KBI has recognized only 14 other field leaders with this award in 50 years.
The Central Vermont Economic Development Corp. (CVEDC) presented Lars Hasselblad Torres of Local 65 in Montpelier its Small Business of the Year award. Torres created Local 65, a professional co-working environment for freelancers, where more than 41 individuals use the space on a day-to-day basis. Karen Williams-Fox of Woodbury Mountain Toys received the Community Service Award. The President’s Award went jointly to Carol Ellison, Fred Connor, Steve Gurin, Peter Hood, and Kevin Lord for their contributions to CVEDC’s sister corporation, Central Vermont Investment Corp.
The Stern Center for Language and Learning announced the election of board members and officers. Elected to the board were Will Billings, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters; Maureen Post, Lang McLaughry Spera; and Stephen Richards, Champlain Apartments. Officers elected were Eve Pratty Hoar, Allscripts LLC, chair; Deborah Schapiro, marketing consultant, vice chair; Elaine Ittleman, RN, Fletcher Allen Health Care, secretary; and Christopher Gannon, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont, treasurer.
Adam Hergenrother, co-founder of Keller Williams Realty Green Mountain Properties, owner of Universal Properties International, BlackRock Construction, and Mind Spark, was featured in the December issue of Golf Digest magazine in a story about empowering the modern golfer.
The VT/NH Marketing Group presented one of two Lone Pine Awards to Sue Downing, product and packaging design coordinator at Lake Champlain Chocolates and a VT/NH Marketing Group board member since 2006. The second award was presented to a couple who own a New Hampshire business. The organization announced its board of directors. Vermonters newly elected include Samantha Dube, marketing manager at Casey Research in Stowe, board secretary; and Bob Bean, COO and CEO at Orvis in Sunderland.
Gossens Bachman Architects received a 2012 AIA New England Design Award for the design of its own office, selected from 225 entries from around the region.
Burak, Anderson & Melloni PLC announced its rankings in the 2013 “Best Law Firms.” The firm was given a Metropolitan First-Tier ranking in the categories of Environmental Law and Litigation-Environmental.

The Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties announced the appointment of two members to its honorary board: Gretchen Morse, recently retired head of the United Way of Chittenden County, and Delight Wing, M.D., of Jericho.
Dr. Lauren Shanard, owner of Contemporary Dental Arts, is one of 350 dentists worldwide who have achieved Accredited status with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
DEW Construction won Engineering News Record’s 2012 Best Projects competition in the retail/hospitality category for its work as construction manager for Hotel Jay and Pump House Waterpark at Jay Peak Resort. The competition was for the New York region, which includes New York, New Jersey, and New England.
The Howard Center board of trustees has elected to three-year terms Matthew Frazee of National Life Group and Connie Stabler of the Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties.
The Community Health Centers of Burlington honored Joseph Arioli, its former executive director (1996-2009), at its annual meeting. Dr. John Brooklyn of CHCB and Phil Lavoie, former board president, presented Arioli with a plaque in recognition of his “significant contributions” on behalf of CHCB’s growth and development.”
VBT Bicycling and Walking Vacations won the Most Active Partner Award from FranceGuide/Atout France. The company was also highlighted in the travel book Fifty Places to Bike Before You Die by Chris Santella. Two of VBT’s trip leaders, Catherine Dowling and Gerry Slager, were among the experts featured.
Kelly Brush Davisson was selected as one of 10 Athletes Who Care by Sports Illustrated magazine. The December 10 issue includes Brush Davisson on a list of athletes singled out for the charitable work they do off the playing field. Brush Davisson founded the Kelly Brush Foundation in 2006 following a ski racing crash that left her paralyzed. She remained active in sports, winning the women’s handcycle division of the Boston Marathon in 2011.

Peter Trottier, Registered Principal, RJFS, who lead a team of financial advisers at Hickok & Boardman Financial Planning, have been named to the Raymond James Financial Services Inc. 2013 Executive Council. Executive Council honors recognize “outstanding client service and exemplary professional growth.”

Hunger Free Vermont honored Vermont Works for Women’s FRESH Food program with its 2012 Marianne Metropoulos Humanitarian Award. The FRESH Food program provides participants with culinary training and supplies healthy meals to child care centers.

Hackett Valine & MacDonald Inc. announced that Chris Gautreau earned the designation of Certified Risk Manager.
MBA HealthGroup was ranked third in the Top 10 state rankings of Inc. magazine’s Hire Power Awards, recognizing private businesses that have generated the most jobs in the last three years. •
